SHAWNEE COUNTY, Kan. — Smoke from a grass fire near Topeka affects Lawrence and the University of Kansas.
Firefighters battle a grass fire near Forbes Field. The fire has several hundred hectares, but is now under control.
Drone footage shows smoke from that fire spreading more than 30 miles and now hanging over the KU campus.
Video footage south of the KU business schools shows how much smoke the fire has. Although you can see Allen Fieldhouse, it’s hard to see the dorms on Daisy Hill.
Firefighters say the fire does not threaten either city, but anyone with a medical condition that causes breathing problems will want to stay inside this afternoon.
