UT fans raise money for new Tennessee posts in less than 3 days

Knoxville, Tenn. (WVLT) – University of Tennessee Athletics officials are asking the public for donations to help cover the cost of replacing the goal posts that were torn down by fans celebrating the Vols’ win over Alabama on Saturday night. Now, in less than three days, Vol fans have raised money.

It may be noted that Saturday was a bad night for the goal posts in Knoxville, as they were lowered down the strip before being dumped into the Tennessee River.

Athletics director Danny White tweeted Sunday: “Help us Vol Nation!”

As of Tuesday morning, fans had raised $156,879 (104% of goal). Anyone wishing to donate can do so here.

SEC officials too was fined $100,000 against UT for Tennessee fans rushing the field after the win.
