Two people died as a result of the plane crash on the border of Ohio and West Virginia

MARIETTA, Ohio (NBC) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the pilot and a passenger were killed in a plane crash in Marietta.

This eyewitness video shows the flames and smoke of the incident.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that the pilot and passenger of the plane were killed.

Fortunately, the Marietta citizen was safe and sound.

However, a number of vehicles of the automobile station were heavily damaged.

The twin-engine plane took off from John Glenn International Airport in Columbus shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Police do not know where the plane was going.

The crash is under investigation by both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

Marietta is located right along the Ohio River on the border between Ohio and West Virginia.
