Traffic Alert: First responders to participate in rail emergency drills

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Railroad developers are preparing for an emergency exercise on their guideway.

HART says police, fire and EMS crews will all participate in a drill at the Kualakai station east of Kapolei on Saturday. Scenario: A train arrives at an emergency stop.

HART is alerting motorists during drills in Kualakai and Keahumoa Parks.

Here’s how traffic is affected:

• One lane of northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained at Kualakai Park.
• One lane of eastbound and westbound traffic is maintained on Keahumoa Parkway.
• The left turn from Keahumoa Parkway will be limited to Maunakapu Street.
• Law enforcement officers assist drivers and pedestrians as needed.
