Tom Brady has been criticized for comparing the NFL season to implementation

(NewsNation) — Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady seems to be in trouble again after recent comments made on his account podcast with Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray, “Let’s Go” went viral on Monday.

In a conversation with former NBA champion and former league MVP Kevin Durant, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback compared the life-work balance of preparing for NFL the season to go to war.

“It’s starting to get awkward, though, as I get older and older because I’m starting to see myself as more of a man besides being an athlete,” Durant said. “Well, it’s like, where’s the balance? It’s definitely been a mental hurdle trying to figure out what is the balance between the two.”

Durant’s comments prompted Brady to compare his view on balancing work and life during the NFL season.

“You know — and you can definitely feel that I’m 45 years old,” Brady said Brooklyn Nets star. “Now, it’s like, do I just think the same way? Do I still? I almost look like football season, like you’re going to deploy here and the military. And like, man, here I am again.”

While Brady wasn’t trying to make a one-on-one comparison of the NFL season to the military, his comments reflect his belief that the NFL season removes him from every other aspect of his life — except for competition.

“When it comes down to it, your competitiveness takes over. And as much as you want to have this playful balance with your work balance, you end up doing exactly what you’ve always done,” he said.

Either way, the comments set Twitter ablaze — with fans, military veterans, and everyone in between voicing their displeasure.

From taking an 11-day layoff during practice, to being caught at Robert Kraft’s wedding during the season, to Gisele Bündchen’s divorce rumors, things have been tough for Brady.

And a 3-3 record doesn’t help.

We’ll see if a certain Hall of Famer can turn things around this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
