The Nebraska Department of Highways publishes the number of traffic fatalities for the month of September 2022

LINCOLN, Neb. (COLLEN) – According to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation, during the month of September 2022, 36 people died in traffic accidents on Nebraska highways.

  • These 36 deaths occurred in 30 fatal accidents.
  • Nine of the 27 occupants of the vehicle killed were not wearing seat belts, eleven were wearing seat belts, and seven were wearing seat belts, marked as unknown.
  • Twenty-three of the dead were in rural areas.
  • One of those killed was on the interstate, 24 on other highways, and eleven on local roads.
  • 6 of the dead are motorcyclists.
  • Three of the dead were pedestrians.
  • One of those killed by a train.
