The I-74 Bike and Pedestrian Lane will be temporarily closed for maintenance

QUAD CITIES, Ill./Iowa (KWQC) – The bike and pedestrian lane on the I-74 bridge will be temporarily closed starting Oct. 24 for maintenance.

Allows contractors to grind road widening links to facilitate the use of wheelchairs and other mobility equipment, the Iowa and Illinois departments of transportation and the cities of Bettendorf and Moline in a news release.

“We are committed to making the road accessible to everyone now and in the future,” said George Ryan, I-74 corridor manager. “This temporary closure allows us to reduce the need for further maintenance of the expansion joints.”

The trail is expected to reopen on October 27, weather permitting, according to the news release.

Opening in the spring of 2022, the 14-foot-wide, ADA-accessible bike and pedestrian path includes a scenic overlook and connects residents and visitors to hundreds of sites and events on both sides of the Mississippi River.
