Santa Fe officials: 1 dead after pedestrian crash

SANTA FE, NM (KRQE) – One person has died in a crash, according to the Santa Fe Police Department. The accident happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police were called to Zafarano Drive and Cerrillos Road around 2:05 a.m. Sunday morning for a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

The 28-year-old pedestrian was unresponsive when officers arrived and was pronounced dead. Officials are not releasing the name of the deceased party until the family has been notified.

Police said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Cerrillos Road near the intersection of Zafarano Drive at the time of the crash; the driver remained at the scene. Officials said the driver was not injured and the crash may have been the fault of a pedestrian.

Officials are still investigating the incident.
