SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – There is a petition to stop adult business from coming to Shreveport.
Shreveport’s District G citizens and city council candidate Derrick Henderson hosted a petition drive Monday night at the corner of Pines and Buncombe Rd. to oppose the opening of a Hustler Hollywood store on Financial Plaza in the old IHOP building.
Residents say the adult-themed store is inappropriate for their neighborhood, especially near schools and kindergartens.
“I came today to sign the petition because we’ve done so much to try to build this area of west Shreveport, and I feel like that establishment is not going to be in line with the values and the way we’re trying to build this area,” said one resident.
Henderson says he believes he collected hundreds of signatures by the end of the day.
The signing will continue until Tuesday, starting at 12:00pm at the corner of Pines and Buncombe Rd.
