PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A security officer was shot while working the South Street Festival on Saturday night.

It happened around 11 p.m. near 7th and South streets.

Investigators say a woman riding in an open-air vehicle got into an argument with a group of people working at a vendor at the festival.

The woman got out of the vehicle and participated in a physical altercation with a group of sellers.

Security officers working at the festival were able to successfully break up the fight.

When the woman and the driver returned to the vehicle, the driver opened fire and shot the security officer twice.

The 32-year-old security officer was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.

Police say the altercation occurred after a group of motorcycle, quad and open vehicle operators removed barricades at the event site as workers were closing up for the night.

Investigators say the incident was caught on security cameras.

Police have not said if any arrests have been made at this time.
