Police: Man shoots DoorDash driver, steals car

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A Memphis man is accused of trying to kill a DoorDash driver.

The incident happened on September 14 on Peres Avenue.

The victim told the police that he had made a delivery and was walking to his car when an unknown man opened his door.

As he approached, the man opened fire, police said. As the man stole his vehicle, a 2017 Chevrolet Impala, and left the scene, the victim returned fire.

On October 17, the Impala was parked in front of a Dollar General on James Road.

Officers of the car found the driver inside and arrested him.

Police say the man, identified as Tyshawn Ware, has confessed to the crime.

Wear is charged with aggravated robbery, attempted first-degree murder and use of a firearm with intent to commit a felony.

He is also charged with reckless driving, theft of property and failure to exercise caution.
