A body found on eastbound Interstate 94 between Eight Mile and Nine Mile Friday morning is that of a 17-year-old girl from Detroit, Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said.
According to the police, the woman was found with a gunshot wound to the head. Shaw told The News Saturday that the investigation is ongoing and Michigan State Police have no suspects. The victim’s family has been informed.
Police responded to the scene at 7:45 a.m. Friday, and the highway was closed for several hours.
Detectives are asking anyone in the area of I-94 and Eight Mile around 3:45 a.m. to call the North Michigan Metro Post at (248) 584-5740. People with information about the victim and the incident can report confidentially Michigan Crime Stoppers at 1:800 – GAP.
Police also asked anyone with a remote control in their driveway at 3:45 a.m. to check the footage for suspicious activity. Shaw said police had received no public response as of Saturday morning.
