BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – A North Dakota think tank released a report Monday outlining the importance of the state’s energy sector in the global marketplace.
North Dakota’s American Experiment discusses the importance of North Dakota’s coal and oil-based energy production for America to become energy independent again. Public Utilities Commissioner Julie Fedorczak says the transition to green energy may be on the way, but renewables can’t replace electricity.
“Energy policy really needs to be evidence-based because it’s science and there are certain elements of it that you couldn’t find. And one of those elements is how the power grid works. It is controlled by physics,” said Julie Fedorchak.
The paper also explains how Russia has positioned itself as an energy powerhouse and used its oil and gas exports as leverage against Europe during its war in Ukraine. One of the solutions to Europe’s energy crisis is to increase exports of liquefied natural gas from the US
