As rumors swirl about their status, Monique Samuels and Chris Samuels have clarified that they have not separated – but admit that they are going through a difficult period in their ten-year marriage.

Ex The Real Housewives of Potomac stars issued a long YouTube video on Monday, Oct. 17, after seemingly laughing off a People magazine report that they split over the weekend.

“It’s no secret that Chris and I have struggled in some areas of our marriage and everyone watching Love and Marriage: DC last year, you all saw the fights, you all saw everything that was going on,” Monique, 39, began with Chris, 45, by her side. “It was a lot of confusion, it was a crazy build-up to that 10 years of our marriage and when you’ve been married that long and you have things like, ‘Listen, this is unfulfilling or I’ve been unheard of,’ you start to get frustrated and say, ‘Oh , my god, is this going to be life? I can not anymore.’ So what did you see? Love and Marriage: DC last season, that was my cry for help.”

Monique and Chris married in 2012 and share three children: Christopher (9), Milani (7) and Chase (3). She noted on Monday that the couple had been in individual therapy to work on “their personal issues,” but has repeatedly denied that they have split.

“Without further explanation, everyone knows that when you say the words divorce, it insinuates divorce. Are Chris and I getting a divorce? No. We’re not getting a divorce. Are we going our separate ways? Absolutely not. … Have we filed for legal divorce? No. Have we filed for divorce? No. Is there any document to prove any divorce claims? No. Have we grown apart to the point of breaking up? No,” said the former Bravo star.

Monique added that she’s already seeing a difference through counseling, noting that it’s the second season Love and Marriage: DC will document their progress.

“We decided to spend a few nights apart while on our advisory trips. We have been communicating much better than we have been for a long time,” she explained. “We are definitely still together, we haven’t given up on our marriage, we haven’t broken up and we don’t want to divorce. We’re just trying to get better.”

Chris, for his part, simply noted that it was “very disappointing and it’s a shame that people would post things without fact-checking.”

Before signing off, Monique reached out to her former colleague Ashley Darby seemingly confirming the split at BravoCon, telling fans at a panel over the weekend that Monique told her she was “going through some personal stuff” when they had lunch recently.

“A lot of people tried to throw Ashley under the bus. Ashley is innocent, leave her alone,” Monique said. “She didn’t start these things.”
