(NEXT STAR) – Time to cross these buckets off your wish lists.
Starting Tuesday, McDonald’s fans across the country can officially get their hands on the newest version of McDonald’s Halloween Happy Meals, which are served in decorative reusable buckets that double as trick-or-treat buckets.
“We heard you loud and clear… if the spooky SZN doesn’t include McDonald’s Halloween buckets, then you don’t want it,” McDonald’s wrote of the Halloween Happy Meals in Media Release earlier this month.
First introduced in 1986, the Halloween Happy Meal buckets have made periodic returns to McDonald’s in the decades since, often with updated artwork or new shapes, and sometimes even themed around characters from “Scooby Doo” or “Monsters High”,
The latest iteration of the bins looks like a return to the trio of white, orange and green bins – nicknamed McBoo, McPunk’n and McGoblin – first offered in the late ’80s. Each also features three different faces on the outside of the cans, as seen in photos shared by McDonald’s and confirmed by a spokesperson.
The buckets are said to be available at all participating McDonald’s restaurants until October 31, or “while supplies last,” according to McDonald’s.
In the meantime, it was hinted at by fans on Twitter not every one McDonald’s location has been offering all three bins since Tuesday. Some also suggested that the bins themselves were smaller than in previous years, and many noted that they were was missing lids as well as the earliest iterations.
Still, the vast majority of customers seemed happy with the nostalgic bins.
“I GOT MY SPIRITUAL BUCKTA!” one excited customer wrote. “I’M 38 AND TODAY IS THE BEST DAY EVER!”
