Kilts for Kids to raise money at the annual event on October 20

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – The annual Children’s Fundraiser benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Dakota is coming to a close on Thursday, October 20th in the Sioux Falls area.

Courtney Collen and Harriet Yocum joined us on Dakota News Now to discuss why.

More about the reason

The RMHC 2022 Kilts for Kids teams are participating in a friendly fundraising challenge to beat their competition! This is the first year that women are included in the teams. Teams had two months to try and raise as much as they could to take first place in the fundraiser’s 11th year. They’re down to the last few days! These donations provide hundreds of overnight stays for families at RMHC South Dakota when their child faces recovery or hospitalization.

More than 1,000 families live at RMHC South Dakota each year. The Kilts for Kids fundraiser is a top-grossing charity event that provides not only two months of fun and excitement each year leading up to an unforgettable night out, but most importantly, the gift of family togetherness when it matters most. Without RMHC and its 2 homes in South Dakota, hundreds of families would be burdened financially and emotionally.

In its first 10 years, Kilts for Kids has raised a total of $1.4 million. Every dollar raised helps keep families close to a hospitalized child.
