Kids fighting cancer buy $500 at Mall in Wellington Green

WELLINGTON, Fla. – A South Florida nonprofit partnered with Macy’s in Wellington to give children with cancer a $500 shopping spree on Saturday.

The Pediatric Oncology Support Team, or “POST,” is located at Children’s Hospital of Palm Beach County.

They brought 10 children, ranging in age from 6 to 18, to the Mall in Wellington Green to shop.

The executive director said that when a child is diagnosed, disposable income often disappears, adding to the importance of such an event.

Macy’s opened its store two hours early for the event.

“I can’t actually do things like this. I can’t go out because of my condition because I can’t get sick and stuff like that, so I think it’s kind of fun,” Deneilia Bennett said.

POST’s executive director said they will be hosting their annual 5K at Roger Dean Stadium next weekend.
