HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Iroquois Point Elementary School will be closed Monday as crews continue to work to repair a major break in the Navy’s water line.
The state Department of Education released a news release Sunday to confirm the school’s closure.
Navy system residents fight boil water advisory, say they’re ‘not surprised’
The DOE said military officials mistakenly announced at a public meeting that no schools would be closed Monday.
Iroquois Point is closed, the DOE added, because the water pressure on campus is insufficient to flush toilets. The school has water bottles for drinking, washing hands and cooking.
Major breaks in the Navy’s water system left about 90,000 customers under a boil water advisory Friday. Some customers have low water pressure while others have no water at all.
No time has been determined when the breaks will be repaired.
