Hoover police officer shot multiple times, suspect not in custody

HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) – Authorities are currently searching for a suspect accused of shooting a Hoover Police officer on October 16, 2022.

Officers responded to a shooting on I-459 North where a driver said several shots were fired at his vehicle, authorities said. No one was injured in the shooting.

After being given information about a suspect vehicle, officers located the alleged suspect at the Hills apartment complex in Hoover. The officers then drew guns and fired at the officers. An officer fired multiple shots. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Police began shooting at the suspect, but authorities do not know if the suspect was hit.

Police believe the suspect is currently at a residence in the 3600 block of The Hills in Hoover. The nearest houses are evacuated, other residents of the complex are advised to shelter in place.
