That magical connection! Emma Watson and Tom Felton‘s characters in Harry Potter they may not have seen eye to eye, but off screen the actors have formed a wonderful friendship over the years.
Watson and Felton originally met while playing enemies in the game Harry Potter film franchise, which is based on JK RowlingCritically acclaimed books. The actress took on the role of Hermione Granger, a smart Gryffindor student who helped her best friend Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) while trying to take down Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). Meanwhile, Felton played her Slytherin rival Draco Malfoy, who also ended up on the other side of the fight.
Almost a decade after the two worked on the wizarding world’s introduction to the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s StoneWatson revealed that she had more than just friendly feelings for her partner.
“Between the ages of 10 and 12, I had a really big crush on Tom Felton, to the point where I’d go to work in the morning and look at the numbers on the call list to see if he was going to be there.” the Beauty and the Beast said the star Jonathan Ross 2009 “We love the bad guy, he was a few years older and he had a skateboard — and that really did it.”
Bling Ring The actress noted that Felton was aware of her feelings, adding: “He totally knew, and the thing is, he would tell everyone, ‘I see her in a younger, sisterly way,’ and it just broke my heart. It still works.”
The An illusion Starr, for his part, explained that he considered his relationship with Watson “a thing” because of how long they’ve known each other.
“We have been very close for a long time. I adore her. I think she’s fantastic. I hope they return the compliment,” he said Entertainment Tonight in June 2021 “I spoke to Emma a few days ago and immediately there were conversations about, ‘Oh wow, the sink is clogged’ or some trivial nonsense like my dog wouldn’t eat a certain type of food. On the romantic side, I think that’s a Slytherin/Gryffindor thing, not a Tom and Emma thing. I absolutely think of her in the world.”
During HBO Max Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts Reunion special, the off-screen friends got candid about the bond they continue to share.
“Emma and I have always loved each other, really,” Felton shared at the highly-anticipated premiere, and Watson recalled the moment she developed feelings for her partner. “I entered the room where we had the teaching. The task he was given was to draw what you think God looked like, and Tom used a skateboard to draw a girl with a hat on her back. And I just don’t know how to say it, I just fell in love with him.”
