HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A cold front will move over Kauai Wednesday morning, Oahu later this afternoon, then move over Maui tonight.
A period of strong northerly winds and increased rain is expected after the frontal passage.
The front is expected to weaken over Maui Thursday morning and then slowly move west Thursday afternoon into Friday, bringing showers to the western end of the state.
Moderate to gusty trade winds and typical downwind and mocha-oriented showers will return later this week and remain in place until early next week.
A high surf advisory is in effect for the north shores of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu.
A larger but shorter swell is moving in to the north today and is targeting northern coasts tonight and tomorrow. It will also potentially bring seas of the CBD level into clear waters, requiring expansion and extension of the consultation.
The swelling will decrease from Thursday night to Saturday. Small southern background swells and a number of slightly larger, longer swells are expected today through Saturday.
