Forecast: Cool tonight, and warmer weather by the weekend

Southwest Florida will see another night of unseasonably cold temperatures tonight as overnight lows drop about 10 degrees cooler than normal for this time of year.

Areas around Fort Myers and Cape Coral are expected to drop to 59 degrees by early Friday morning, with temperatures closer to Naples and Marco Island around 60 degrees. Inland areas like Lehigh Acres and LaBelle, along with communities in Charlotte and DeSoto County, will be cooler with overnight numbers dropping into the mid-50s by sunrise Friday.

If you’re not a fan of cooler than average weather, the temperature trend will work in your favor as we approach the weekend. Highs on Friday and Saturday are expected to return to the upper 70s and low 80s, with overnight numbers dropping only to the low and mid 60s on Saturday and Sunday night. Usually in late October, our overnight lows drop to around 68 degrees.

Although the hurricane season still has more than a month to go, fortunately there are no problems in the tropics. There are currently no tropical storms or hurricanes listed in the basin, and none are expected to form until next week.
