Forecast: A big drop in temperatures starts tonight

The first strong cold front of the season is pushing south today and should bring much, much colder air to Southwest Florida starting tonight.

As the front moves over the area tonight, we will have to hold onto the chance for showers and showers until sunset tonight. After midnight, temperatures and humidity will begin to drop rapidly, as temperatures are expected to drop to 62 degrees tonight! This is cooler than the average low of 68 degrees for this time of year and much cooler than where we’ve been descending at night for the past few days.

Wednesday will see the lowest temperatures we’ve had since February. The high in the afternoon is expected to be just 71 degrees, which is more than 10 degrees cooler than the seasonal norm for mid-October. We will have some clouds on Wednesday and should have at least a few isolated showers across the area.

This will not be a prolonged cold. We’ll get into the mid to upper 50s on Thursday morning, but Friday and Saturday will see highs return to the low 80s, with overnight lows this weekend dropping into the low to mid 60s.
