Fatal SUV collides with semi near Wallace

Wallace, SD (Dakota News Now) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Wallace on Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Department of Public Safety, preliminary crash data indicates a 2019 GMC Terrain SUV was westbound on South Dakota Highway 20 when the SUV crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound Kenworth semi-tractor and trailer. collided .

The 32-year-old driver of the SUV died at the scene. His seat belt use is under investigation. The 33-year-old driver of the semi-tractor trailer was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

That stretch of Highway 20 was closed to traffic for about five hours.
