MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Local radio personality Kenman was honored Saturday with a car show in the Uptown Meridian Mall parking lot.
The car community came out to raise money for ‘Kenman’ who was recently diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer. His real name is Ken Stokes and he has been in radio since the mid-1980s. Her friend and colleague Kara Shirley said she gave so much to the community.
“He’s been there for years. He was there for everyone in the morning. He made the day of everyone he contacted by radio. Smile, laugh and joke. He’s just a big bubbly guy. I love hearing him and I miss him so much on the radio,” said one of the organizers of the event, Theresa Brooks.
The event raised just under $7,500. Stokes split the fundraiser money with the best car he had chosen for the event. They also received a plaque with Stokes’ face and name on it.
