Approximately 13 pounds of fentanyl were found during a traffic stop in Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (COLOGNE) – More than 13 pounds of fentanyl were found during a traffic stop on I-80 in Lancaster County on Wednesday.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 2:45 p.m., deputies with the Lancaster County Criminal Apprehension Unit/HSI stopped a vehicle traveling westbound on I-80 at MM 394 at a high rate of speed.

The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, and a backpack containing 6 kilograms (13.2 pounds), approximately 60,000 pills, of fentanyl was discovered inside the vehicle. The tablets were marked “M30,” which are fentanyl pills disguised as Oxycontin. The cost of one drug is more than 1 million dollars. According to LSO, one pill contains 10 lethal doses of fentanyl.

Luis Salazar, 39, of Omaha, was arrested and booked into the jail for possession with intent to deliver drugs.

An investigation revealed that Salazar was headed to York, Nebraska.
