An 81-year-old Tampa woman was killed after her car crashed into a tree in Land O’Lakes

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — An 81-year-old woman has died after the car she was driving crashed into a tree in Land O’Lakes.

According to a statement from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was a passenger in a car traveling northbound on US-41, south of Swans Landing Drive. The FHP said the car left the road at 2:10 p.m. and hit a tree in the median “for an unknown reason.”

Troopers said the car spun before coming to rest in the southbound lanes of US-41.

Both the passenger and the 79-year-old driver were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Officers said the woman later died at a hospital.
