AmpSurf is looking for volunteers for the upcoming Operation Restoration Event in Pismo Beach

AmpSurf is seeking volunteers to participate in the 17th annual Operation Restoration event in Pismo Beach.

The event will take place from Thursday to Monday.

AmpSurf, in partnership with the Wounded Warrior Project, will bring 12-15 disabled veterans to the area to experience the healing power of the ocean through surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and archery.

Many of these participants are soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who have lost limbs, suffered burns, have a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or have PTSD from serving on overseas operations, according to organizers.

The organizers are especially looking for water volunteers on Saturday and Sunday. No surfing skills are required to volunteer.

“As a first time volunteer, I didn’t know what to expect. I will never forget my day helping disabled veterans,” said volunteer Josh C. “It was so emotional, I was thrilled and honored to be there. I can’t wait to I’m volunteering again soon.”
