EMERADO, ND (Valley News Live) – A Fargo man has been arrested after leading police on a chase near Emerado. It happened at 14:15 on Monday. An NDHP trooper attempted to stop a Ford Mustang going 85 mph in a 70 mph zone. Troopers say the driver then sped off, traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 2 at speeds of more than 120 mph.
During the pursuit, the Ford Mustang fled southbound on Grand Forks County Road 3 to Eagle Avenue. NDHP troopers attempted to use spike strips near Reynolds and Buxton, but the spike strips were ineffective as the vehicle was traveling southbound on Trail County Road 26. The vehicle then drove east on 13th St. NE. south to 162nd Ave NE. The vehicle then crossed over the interstate overpass and continued south on Traill County Road 81.
The driver, identified as Jesse Saldviar, 45, of Fargo, finally stopped at the intersection of Trail County Road 81 and 6th St. NE just north of the Hillsborough Beet Plant. He was arrested for DUI, driving under suspension, fleeing a peace officer and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.
The car was removed from the scene. The case is still under investigation by the NDHP.
