SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – The Department of Public Safety has reported the third fatal crash this week in the area. Authorities say one person was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash northeast of Sioux Falls.
Preliminary reports indicate that on Wednesday, around 9:00 p.m., a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was eastbound on 258th Street. when it failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse that was northbound on South Dakota Highway 11.
The 64-year-old Hyundai driver died at the scene. The driver, a 53-year-old Travers woman, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Sioux Falls Hospital. The passenger, a 44-year-old Travers man, suffered minor injuries. All three people involved were wearing seat belts.
The names of the three people who took part in this incident have not been released until the family members are informed.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information published so far is preliminary information only.
