A drop-in center is opening, designed to shelter women recovering from trauma

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A hospitality center is now open in Memphis.

This facility is located at 590 Washington Ave. The grand opening was held on Thursday.

The city of Memphis says it is the region’s first barrier-free emergency shelter for women designed to heal from trauma.

“Hospitality Hub’s new campus is a barrier-free space,” said Executive Director Kelsey Johnson. “We have removed many barriers that prevent people from getting the help they need. Our guests do not need to pay money, show certain documents or prove anything to us – our services are open to anyone who needs our help.”

The center will work to provide employment, specific support, transportation, COVID testing and vaccinations, and long-term housing solutions.

The center features a quiet room, family room, hair and nail salons run by volunteers and green spaces.
