A cold week begins

LINCOLN, Neb. (COLOGNE) – Temperatures will be below average in most areas this week. A warming trend is expected in the second half of the week. Rain is likely to return later this week.

Monday will be sunny to mostly sunny, cool (in most areas) and a little windy. High temperatures will range from the mid 40s in northeastern Nebraska to the lower 60s in southwestern Nebraska and the Panhandle. Winds will blow at a speed of 10 to 20 m/s from the north and the wind speed will be up to 30 m/s in the afternoon.

Tuesday looks sunny to mostly sunny and cool (for most areas). It won’t be as windy with northerly winds between 5 and 15 mph. Record low and record low temperatures are possible Tuesday morning. Afternoon highs will range from the low 40s in eastern Nebraska to the low 60s in the panhandle.

After a cold start on Wednesday, afternoons should be warmer than Monday and Tuesday. The warming trend continues into the second half of the week, with above-average temperatures returning to the area. There is a chance of rain on Sunday. Rain is likely to continue early next week.
