ETHAN, SD (Dakota News Now) – The Department of Public Safety has reported a fatal collision involving a semi truck in the area, the second this week. This time the 16-year-old died.
A preliminary report indicates a 2008 Ford-250 pickup truck was traveling in the wrong lane southbound on South Dakota Highway 37 when it collided with a 2018 Kenworth Construction T800 semi-truck and a northbound trailer. The trailer had closed cabinets.
It is said that the 16-year-old driver died at the scene. The 36-year-old driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mitchell Hospital. The names of the two people involved have not been released pending notification of family members. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information published so far is preliminary information only.
