300 chickens arrive at the SMC, covering 1,000 animals at the shelter

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Memphis Animal Services (MAS) expects about 300 chickens to arrive at the shelter later Wednesday.

The SCA says it currently houses 722 animals, both on-site and in foster homes.

“We absolutely do not have the staff or space to care for another 300 animals,” said a Mas representative.

SMA is urgently seeking chicken adopters, along with dog and puppy adopters/fosters and cat adopters.

The chicks will be available for adoption on Thursday. Chicken admission fee is $5.
