The rapper returns to high school for a surprise performance

Memphis, Tenn (WMC) – Students at Frayser’s Martin Luther King Prep got a big surprise Thursday afternoon.

Former student and now rap star Gloria Woods aka “Glorella” stopped by for a surprise performance and didn’t come up empty-handed.

The students and teachers had no idea the rapper Gorilla who once attended Fraser High School is back for a surprise performance at the Homecoming March.

Glorella attended Frayser Westside Middle School before attending high school at MLK Prep during her freshman year.

“I love him. It’s crazy to grow up not coming to our school when I was coming in. To do things like that, it feels really good,” Woods said.

She also gave a $25,000 check to the school’s fine arts program.

Woods said, β€œI want them to know that anything they put their minds to is possible. As long as they get a dream, they reach for the stars.”

She is currently signed with fellow original Memphian Yo Gotti CMG.

Her song FNF (Lets Go) became a summer anthem, putting her on the global hip-hop scene.

On Friday, she will release a song with rapper Cardi B called “Tomorrow 2”.
