Supply and demand drive up grocery prices

Huntsville, Ala. (WAFF) – The price of groceries is influenced by supply, demand, and supply chain support.

The products most affected are orange juice, eggs, chicken, fresh beef, bacon and bread.

According to the Consumer Price Index, grocery prices rose at the fastest pace in 43 years.

This has required some grocery shoppers to check prices before buying and setting a budget.

“I care more about him than might be said from six months to a year ago,” said local shopper Glenn Humphrey. “Definitely looking to buy one and get another for free, anything that might help reduce about a 15-20% increase on some items.”

Jereme Livingston says he does everything he can to maintain his grocery budget on each visit.

“I’m not going to get all my meat at once,” Livingston said. “Maybe next time I want a steak, I’ll get some steak today. If I want some fish and chicken and all I might just get some cheaper meat or something, I treat myself later so I don’t splurge on all the Once I go.”
