Fido bags for firefighters

Lubbock, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock firefighters have received a new set of tools that can help them save animal lives during a call-up.

Known as “Fido bags,” these are kits that can be used to treat pets from smoke inhalation or other fire-related injuries. Kits even include safety gear for a firefighter when handling an animal.

Every single fire truck will receive compliments from the Fetch Foundation, an Arizona nonprofit.

“Our pets are our family, and Fitch wants to make sure we take care of all of our family members, including our family four,” says Heather Dobson of Fitch.

Lubbock Fire Rescue has used specialized oxygen masks for pets for nearly a decade. Vice President Nick Wilson says this donation will ensure there is one on every call going forward.
